I’m drowning, but in a good way. It’s how Scrooge McDuck must have felt breast-stroking in his sea of gold coins. Luckily, Georgia got a snowday yesterday, which gave me a second to come up for air, and now I’m all re-charged to share the latest news:

An excerpt of Brass is in Lenny Letter’s Lit Thursday edition. Lit Thursdays are the best Thursdays.

The Christian Science Monitor called Brass one of the “5 New Titles to Check Out in the New Year,” and Brit & Co. cited it as one of “8 Exciting Debut Novels to Kick Off the New Year.”

The first official reviews are in! And they’re good and they’re in freaking O, The Oprah Magazine and The San Francisco Chronicle! I found the link to the O article by Googling Xhenet Aliu + Oprah. Mission complete.

But while we’re here, may I direct you to the Events page, where I plead with you to come out and keep me company at various literary-type thingies? I’m so pumped for every single one of them, but I have to mention that the reading at Parnassus Books in Nashville is especially thrilling because they’ve chosen it as their January First Editions Club pick. That means I get to spend all after on Wednesday, January 24th signing hundreds of copies of Brass in Ann Patchett’s bookstore while hanging out with the Parnassus shop-dogs, which means I probably won’t even miss my own smelly mutts too terribly while I’m gone.
